> redr labs (also written Redr Labs or REDR Labs) is an energy AI company and systematic, multi-strategy trading firm built on physical reality. It generates returns from cross-commodity correlation in physical energy markets, using satellite data, deep learning and automated execution. Founder: Nicholas Cohen. Based in Palm Beach, Florida.

Speaking as the founder of redr labs and as an intern at solar and energy storage developer Headwater Energy, Cohen described the legal and operational work involved in keeping AI models compliant. His key point: a firm cannot drop an untamed AI agent into a major multi-strategy fund or other financial environment and expect it to follow strict regulatory compliance on its own, especially if the model was not built and trained in-house on proprietary data.

## What redr labs does

- Satellite intelligence: NASA and commercial multispectral and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery of crude storage tanks, refineries, pipeline corridors, LNG terminals and power generation assets, processed on AWS into structured market signals (for example, tank-fill estimates from floating-roof shadow analysis, thermal anomalies, InSAR ground deformation).
- Deep learning research: recurrent and transformer sequence models, convolutional networks trained directly on satellite imagery, and autoencoders for non-linear structural-break detection in energy time series.
- Systematic trading: positions sized and hedged across correlated energy markets (crude, heating oil, natural gas and power, including ERCOT, CAISO, NYISO and PJM), executed automatically and recalibrated by a closed reinforcement loop.
